It’s hard to find a vocation in life that would enable to a man on his deathbed to look back and know that his life had meaning. I think that teaching is the profession which can offer this opportunity. I teach German and Czech language and literature. My own love for creating, writing, philosophy and lifelong learning make me to realize that as a teacher of humanities subjects I have to be careful not to force students to memorize and repeat something that has been already said. Purposeless repetition does not bring any benefit, and therefore I believe in creativity and education, combined with the real reading or working with authentic materials. I also know that teaching is based on empathy, interpersonal relationships and trust, as the Dalai Lama says „The best religion is a good heart „.
