The School Board
In accordance with Czech School Law No. 561/2004, the 1st International School of Ostrava – mezinárodní Gymnázium is obliged to have a functioning School Board. The School Board provides a legal framework for the parents/guardians of underage students, adult students, pedagogical staff and representatives of the school owners to influence the strategic management of the school.
The School Board:
- considers proposals to the School Education Programme and their later implementation
- approves the school’s Annual Report
- approves the School Rules and suggests changes
- approves the structure for evaluating the educational results
- participates in determining conceptual goals for the development of the school
- discusses the budget for the coming year, and offers suggestions for economic improvement
- discusses the school’s Inspection Reports
- makes suggestions and announcements to the director, executive management, governmental bodies involved in education and other government bodies
- proposes the recall of the School Director
- proposes the selection process when seeking a new Director
The International Gymnázium’s School Board consists of 6 members:
- 2 members are nominated by the School Owners
- 2 members are elected from among parents /guardians of under-aged children (or students aged 18 and older)
- 2 members are elected from among the Teaching Staff
The Head of School may not be a member of the School Board. Members of the School Board cannot be elected more than once by different parties. There must be a different member for each available position.
The School Board must meet at least twice per year. The Head of School [or his deputy] is obliged to take part in the School Board meetings following the Chairman’s invitation. The chairman is elected by the School Board members at their first meeting, which is called together by the Head of School.
The school board based on regular elections of September 30, 2019 consits of the following members:
