Admissions

Admissions

You can find information about our admissions procedure on this page.

Candidates apply for the admissions procedure in accordance with the announcement of admissions procedure criteria issued by the school headmaster in accordance with the Education Act and implementing decrees.

A transfer within the secondary school during the current school year is possible at any time based on notification of the transfer, assessment of the application and the decision of the headmaster of the school on the transfer.

You are welcome at our school at any time. As standard, we offer an experience day at our school, a so-called „Experiential Day“, where individual study applicants can experience one school day in a selected class.

How to apply

Methods of submitting applications

You have three different ways to apply to secondary schools. If you apply electronically, you get the
maximum possible benefits, but you can also apply by printing out a form from the online system
(called statement) or by using a paper form (called form).

  1. Electronically (with an NIA verified electronic identity – most commonly Mobile eGovernment Key and Banking Identity, or other methods according to the NIA). Details on identity verification can be found at identitaobcana.cz or info.identitaobcana.cz
  2. By submitting a statement printed from the online system.
  3. By submitting a completed form with attachments.

Choose only one of the options, ideally the first one.

The electronic application system will be launched at www.dipsy.cz during January 2024. The
electronic application will be available from February 1, 2024 to February 20, 2024.

1. Electronic application form

If you have an electronic identity, you can apply online quite easily.

  • You log in to the system, which is linked to the population register, which allows you to see a list of your children, from which you select the one you want to register. You don’t fill in any personal details.
  • You choose up to 3 fields of study from the list, without a talent test, to which you want to apply. You select them in order of priority for admission. You will see clear information about each school – an overview of the fields of education, the number of applicants admitted this year and the number of applications and applicants admitted in previous years.
  • You will also see a clear overview of the documents that your chosen school requires to accompany your application for the relevant field of study. You can then upload these as photos or scans.
  • You confirm the submission, receive a confirmation email and that’s it.

+ Easy to choose from all schools, just select the school (including the field, major and form of education) and you don’t have to look elsewhere for the information you need.

+ For each school/field of education, you can see the number of applications and admissions in previous years.

+ You can go back to your application in progress.

+ The attachments are to be attached in copies, just keep 1 original of each attachment with you for verification purposes. Invitation to the examinations will be sent electronically.

+ After the assessment you will see your child’s results for the Unified Entrance Examination.

+ You will save time and money on submitting the application form or other documents by post and collecting the documents received by post during the admission process.

2. Statement from the system

You fill everything in online without logging in, so your information from the population register will not be pre-filled and you must do it all by yourself. Upload the attachments to the application form. Then, you will print the application statement from the system, sign it and deliver it to the school of your choice (by post, in person, by data box).

  • You enter the system without logging in and fill in the necessary personal information about yourself and your child.
  • You will select up to 3 fields of study from the list without a talent test to which you wish to apply. You select them in order of priority for admission. You will find clear information about each school, such as the number of applicants accepted this year and the number of applications in previous years.
  • You will clearly see the documents that your chosen school requires to accompany your application. You can then upload these as photos or scans.
  • You will confirm the submission and then receive an email with a printout of your application to the email address provided in your contact details.
  • You will print out the statement (as many times as you apply to), sign it, and deliver it in paper form to each school you have selected (without attachments).

+ Easy to choose from all schools, just select the school (including the field, specialization and form of education) and you don’t have to look elsewhere for the information you need.

+ For each school/field of education, you can see the number of applications and admissions in previous years.

+ One copy of each application is enough.

–  You must deliver a paper application to each school.

– You will receive an invitation to the examinations by registered letter.

– You will not see your child’s results in the Unified Entrance Examination after the tests have been scored.

3. Printed form with all attachments

You will complete a traditional paper application form and deliver it to each school of your choice. Attach to each application form all the attachments required by the school/branch. Each application must have the disciplines listed in the same order of priority for admission.

+ You do not need a computer or mobile phone.
– You must attach hard copies of all attachments to each application.
– You must deliver the paper application with all attachments to each school.
– You must look up the exact name and address of each high school, the field code and its exact name and major.
– You will receive an invitation to the examinations by registered letter.
– You will not see your child’s results in the Unified Entrance Examination after the tests have been evaluated.

Important changes:

  • The doctor’s certificate is a separate attachment to the application form (it is not included in the application form). ATTENTION, the doctor’s certificate must have the correct discipline code(s) on it!
  • Prioritization of individual schools:
    • Indicate the most desirable field of education in the selected school first on the application form.
    • In the second place you will indicate the field of study where your child should be admitted if he/she does not get into the field of study in the first place.
    • In the third place, you will indicate the field of study to which your child should be admitted if he/she does not get into either the first or the second field of study.
  • If an application has already been submitted for fields of study with a talent test as of November 30, 2023, you will add those fields of study to the priority order.

ROUND 1

Deadline for submission of applications for Round 1

  • Until November 30, 2023 – applications for education fields with a talent test.
    • Submit paper (blue) applications as in previous years.
  • From February 1 to February 20, 2024 – submission of applications for maturita and non-maturita fields.
    • Submit applications in the newly described ways.

Dates of the 1st round of admission examinations

When will the School Entrance Examination (SEE) take place?

  • April 12 and 15, 2024 (Fri, Mon) – 4-year courses and extension courses
  • April 16 and 17, 2024 (Tue, Wed) – multi-year grammar schools

  • January 15 to January 31, 2024 – talent tests for conservatoires
  • From January 2 to February 15, 2024 – talent tests at grammar schools with sports training
  • March 15 to April 23, 2024 – school entrance examinations for all other secondary schools

When will the alternate school entrance exams be held?

Other important dates for Round 1

  • May 10, 13 and 14, 2024 – file viewing
  • May 15, 2024 – Headmaster will publish results (in school and in the information system)

WHERE will the exams be held?

  • The school parts of the entrance exams are held at the individual secondary schools that administer them.
  • You will take the School Entrance Examination (SEE) exclusively at some of the schools to which you apply. The schools for the SEE will be determined by the system and you will find out about them from the invitations sent to you by the school principals. It may happen that you will also take part in the SEE twice in the same school.
  • You will hold the alternative term of the SEE in the school where the regular term was to be held.

Application for Round 1

For the first round of admissions, you can submit:

  • up to 3 applications for fields of education without a talent test (maturita and non-maturita fields),
  • up to 2 applications for fields of education with a talent test.

If you have submitted 2 applications in November for the fields of study with a talent test, you can apply for 3 more fields of study without a talent test in February, so you will be in line for a total of 5 fields of study in your application.

Do I have to apply for all 3 (or 5) fields of study?
No, you do not. It is up to you whether you apply for one, two or all three. However, you must add one or two fields of study with a talent test that have already been applied for by November 30, 2023.

Selection of schools for application – prioritization

On the application form, you will be required to select the order of your priority in the schools. What
does this mean?

You rank your selected schools and their fields of study in order of where you want to go most. If an applicant is ranked ‚above the line‘ in more than one school, he or she will be assigned to the first school by the system. I want to go to school #1 the most, if I don’t get into school #1 then I want to go to school #2, if I don’t get into either then I want to go to school #3.

  • The priority (order) of the fields of education on the application form does not affect the order of applicants on the school’s results list.
  • Priority only affects the choice of school/field of education if the applicant is ranked ‚above
the line‘ in more than one result list.

This ranking is important for determining which school/field you will be admitted to. If you are ‚above the line‘ in more than one field, you will automatically be admitted to the one you marked first. You will not be able to be admitted to the remaining majors in that round. If you do not get into your first field but do get into the second field, you will be admitted into the second field.

If I change my mind about the order of my schools (fields of study) after I apply, can I change the order?

You can only change your chosen field of study and ranking until February 20, 2024 by withdrawing your application and submitting a new one.

Appeal

In previous years, appeals were filed when an applicant was ‚below the line‘ and hoped that enough applicants would not enrol (fail to turn in an enrolment slip) to move them ‚above the line‘. This is no longer the case, as all places will be filled by the system when successful applicants are allocated through the allocation process.

Waiver of admission in Round 1

If an applicant is admitted to a course/secondary school where he/she does not want to or cannot enter, he/she should renounce his/her admission. By doing so, he/she completely waives admission in Round 1 and can only then apply for Round 2 or subsequent rounds (i.e. he/she will not get a place in a lower priority field in Round 1). This step only creates a vacancy in the field but does not shift the order of applicants. The vacant place may only be filled by the school in the next round.

I was accepted to my first school/field of education in the order, but I changed my mind and would rather go to a second one. Is there any way I can do that?
You can’t. If you are admitted to one school in the relevant field, your only option is to waive admission, then apply in the 2nd or next round. However, you have no guarantee that your ‚other‘ school will offer admissions in Round 2 and that you will be admitted to that school.

ROUND 2

Round 2 of the entrance examination is exclusively for applicants who were not admitted in Round 1 or who refused admission or did not apply in Round 1 (however, they can only apply for non- maturita courses in Round 2).

Secondary schools must consider the results of the School Entrance Examination (SEE) from the first round in the second round (again with an influence of at least 60 %, or 40 % for grammar schools with sports preparation).

Date of opening of the 2nd round

  • May 20, 2024 – the full list of schools offering Round 2 admissions will be published on the system’s website along with the available capacity in each field of education

Deadline for submission of applications for Round 2

  • May 24, 2024 – submission of applications for Round 2

Dates of the 2nd round of school entrance examinations

  • June 8 to 12, 2024 – talent and school entrance examinations

Other important dates

  • June 18, 19 and 20, 2024 – access to the file
  • June 21, 2024 – results published by the headmaster

WHERE will the exams be held?

  • The school part of the entrance exams takes place in the individual secondary schools that
    offer them.

Application for the 2nd round

For the second round of admissions, you can submit:

  • up to 3 applications for fields of education without a talent test (maturita and non-maturita fields),
  • up to 2 applications for fields of education with a talent test.

Do I have to apply to all schools/fields?
No, you don’t. It is up to you whether you apply to one, two or three schools without talent tests and one or two schools with talent tests.

Selection of schools for application – prioritization

The prioritisation of the selection of education fields in the selected schools is the same for Round 2 as for Round 1.

  • A candidate who did not take the SEE in Round 1 cannot apply for the maturita field in Round 2!

Appeals

The appeal procedure for Round 2 is the same as for Round 1.

Waiver of admission in Round 2

If an applicant is admitted to a secondary school/branch that he/she does not want or cannot enter, he/she should waive admission. By doing so, he/she completely waives admission in Round 2 and can only then apply for Round 3 and subsequent rounds (i.e. he/she will not get a place in a lower priority field in Round 2). This step only creates a vacancy in the field but does not shift the ranking of applicants. The vacant place may only be filled by the school in the next round.

ROUND 3

The 3rd and subsequent rounds of entrance examinations are exclusively for applicants who were not admitted in the 1st and 2nd rounds, or who refused admission or did not apply in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Third and subsequent rounds of admissions

The third and subsequent rounds are no longer centrally managed, and their dates and arrangements are entirely at the discretion of the schools. The deadline for the submission of applications may be set by the head teacher no earlier than the 7th day after the decision in the previous round.

Method of application for the 3rd and subsequent rounds

Applications must be submitted on paper only (by personal delivery to the school, by post or by letterbox). Electronic submission or submission by extract is not possible. For each school, the applicant shall submit an application form with the fields of study of that school only.

There is no limit to the number of schools/fields of study to which you can apply. Prioritisation is not applied.

Refusal of admission in the 3rd and subsequent rounds

Applicants cannot be admitted to schools in the next round unless they are admitted to another school and waive admission there.

Results

Here you can find the results of the admission procedure in the attached document below. Applicants can be found in the table under their assigned registration number.

We thank and ask all successful applicants to follow the next procedure – handing in the registration form (all first year applicants) or confirming your interest in joining our school (higher year applicants).
