THE IDEAL TOWN | 2010-01-07

This summer we had the opportunity to go to Italy and participate in an international project called “The Ideal Town”. This project involved many people from 6 different European countries: Latvia, Germany, Portugal, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Our goal was to create our “Ideal Town”. We were divided into small groups in which there was one participant from each country. We slept in a monastery throughout our 10-day stay and had various workshops and activities. Together we tried to build a solar panel; we solved different types of labyrinths and we even made up our own. Another workshop was with the famous Italian mathematician, Robert Ghattas, who showed us basic principles of origami. Our Czech group really enjoyed it. We did not just work. We also experienced other activities such as the swimming pool, sea, visiting Milan, and a barbecue. We also had an intercultural dinner which was very successful for our Czech group because of our Czech “bramborovy placek”.

As you can see we were definitely not bored. We met many new friends and we could see the habits and behavior of different cultures. It was a very good experience for all of us!
