Achievement (Grade) Level General Descriptors

 

Achievement level 1 - excellent
The student uses the acquired knowledge, facts, concepts, definitions, and laws very coherently and understands connections between them on a very high level. He/she promptly performs the required intellectual and motor activities. Independently and creatively, the student applies his/her knowledge and skills in solving theoretical and practical tasks and interpreting and evaluating phenomena and laws. The student is able to deduce logically and is able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations without problems. The student’s oral and written work is accurate and concise and he/she is able to independently study relevant texts. Generally, the student produces work of high quality, with very few deficiencies.

 

Achievement level 2 - very good
The student coherently uses the required knowledge, facts, concepts, definitions, and laws and he/she understands the connection between them on a very good level. The student performs the required intellectual and motor activities at a very good level. Sometimes creatively and with little support, the student applies his/her knowledge and skills in solving theoretical and practical tasks and interpreting and evaluating phenomena and concepts. The student is able to deduce logically and is able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations. His/her written and oral expression is accurate. The student is able to independently study relevant texts. Generally, the student produces quality work with only minor deficiencies.

 

Achievement level 3 - good
The student is able to use and apply knowledge, facts, concepts, definitions and laws at an appropriate level but there are some deficiencies in drawing connections. The student performs the required intellectual and motor activities on a good level but with some errors. The student is somewhat able to creatively apply his/her knowledge and skills when solving theoretical and practical tasks and when interpreting and evaluating phenomena and concepts. The student is able to correct his/her inaccuracies and errors with support. The student is able to deduce logically but some deficiencies mean that he/she has some problems transferring theoretical knowledge into practical usage. There are some inaccuracies in oral and written work. The student is able to study independently but often needs support. Generally, the student produces work of lesser quality still with some basic deficiencies.

 

Achievement level 4 - pass/satisfactory/mediocre
The student uses and applies knowledge, facts, concepts, definitions and laws at a low level but there are many shortcomings when drawing connections. The student performs the required intellectual and motor activities on a low level and there are significant shortcomings when performing these activities. The student cannot independently use knowledge and skills to interpret and evaluate phenomena or concepts. The student does not think creatively and has some errors in logical thinking. His/her oral and written expression has serious inaccuracies. There are deficiencies in the quality of the student’s work but the student can correct his/her errors when supported. The student has significant difficulty studying independently.

 

Achievement level 5 - unsatisfactory/failure
There significant, serious and unacceptable deficiencies in the knowledge required of the student. The student is unable to perform the required intellectual and motor activities due to very basic deficiencies in his/her skills. Serious errors occur when the student attempts to use his/her knowledge and skills to solve theoretical and practical tasks. He/she is unable to interpret and evaluate phenomena and concepts even with support. The student cannot think independently and there are often errors in logic. His/her oral and written work has serious inaccuracies. The student is unable to study independently. Generally, there are serious shortcomings in the quality of the student’s work and the student is unable to correct his/her errors even with support.

 

 

Classification in subjects with an aesthetic and artistic focus

 

In classification in subjects with an aesthetic and artistic focus, the following points are assessed in accordance with the curriculum:

  • The student’s level of creativity and independent expression
  • The student’s acquisition of necessary knowledge and experiences and their creative application
  • The student’s understanding of the laws of an activity and their application
  • The quality of the student’s expression
  • The relationship between the student and his/her work and his/her interest in activities
  • The student’s aesthetic sense; the student’s attitude toward art and the aesthetics of other societies

 

In physical education, students are assessed according to their general health; fitness; performance; and care about his/her own health. Students who require partial exemption from physical education on the basis of a doctor’s recommendation will be assessed in physical education with respect to his/her health condition.

 

Achievement level 1 – excellent
A student is very active and is always able to work creatively and independently. The student fully and successfully uses his/her talent and potential in independent and group activities. The student’s expression is aesthetically impressive, original and meaningful. In music and physical education, the student’s performance is also precise. The student can creatively apply his/her knowledge and skills. The student displays an active interest and involvement in art and aesthetics (or physical activities). The student is successfully developing his/her own aesthetic taste (or physical abilities).

 

Achievement level 2 – very good
A student is active, creative, and is usually able to work independently. The student successfully uses his/her talent when engaged in independent and group activities. His/her expression is effective with only minor deficiencies according to the curriculum objectives. The student can creatively apply his/her knowledge and skills in new tasks. The student has an active interest in art and aesthetics (or physical activities). The student is developing his/her aesthetic taste (physical ability) in the required measures.

 

Achievement level 3 – good
The student is moderately involved, creative, independent and forthcoming in activities. He/she does not use his/her talent sufficiently when engaged in independent and/or group activities. His/her expression is less impressive and contains errors. The student’s knowledge and skills have more deficiencies and the student requires support in order to apply them. The student’s interest in art and aesthetics (or physical activities) is lacking somewhat. The student is not satisfactorily developing his/her own aesthetic taste (or physical ability).

 

Achievement level 4 – satisfactory/mediocre
The student is quite inactive and his/her work is lacking creativity. The development of his/her expression is only just satisfactory. The student is able to solve problems or complete tasks but errors are common. The student is only able to apply his/her knowledge and skills with support. The student demonstrates very little effort or interest in his/her activities. The student has not developed his/her aesthetic taste (physical ability) in the required measures.

 

Achievement level 5 – unsatisfactory/failed
The student is predominately passive in activities. The development of his/her abilities is unsatisfactory. His/her expression is mostly error-prone and has no aesthetic value. The student has acquired only minimal knowledge and skills and he/she is unable to apply them in normal situations even with support. The student does not display any interest in his/her work or an effort to develop his/her aesthetic taste (physical ability).
