Introduction

Welcome to the International Primary & Middle School of the 1st International School of Ostrava. We opened our doors on September 8th, 2008 with over 90 students from age 4 (Reception) to 11 (Year 6), and are continuing to grow. In September 2010, we opened our Middle School Year 7 class, and making the first steps towards introducing the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.*

As the first international school registered with the Czech Ministry of Education outside of Prague, we aim to provide the highest level of education and pastoral care to meet the needs of all our students.

The school is registered with the British

In 2011, the City of Ostrava provided our school with a grant of 700 000 CZK to help promote foreign-language development. The grant was used to help cover the costs of employing qualified, native-language teachers, who guarantee a high level of foreign-language teaching; to support foreign-language afternoon activities; to support the creation and implementation of a new educational programme; and to increase the number of individual lessons of English.
