Areas of Interaction (AOI)

– Student Learning Expectations

MYP teachers use the Areas of Interaction to provide contexts for the subject content. This way, MYP students can connect their learning with the real world.

The Areas of Interaction also encourage the students to connect their learning in one subject with that in another.

The Areas of Interaction are used by all MYP schools around the world. The AOIs give the MYP its unique core of attitudes, values and skills.

Each MYP school creates its own set of Student Learning Expectations for each Area of Interaction for each year of the programme. Student Learning Expectations for the AOI are guidelines on what students are expected to learn through the Areas of Interaction at different stages of the programme.

The Student Learning Expectations are not assessed though they are monitored.
