Our Philosophy
Aiming for excellence, the 1st International School of Ostrava, s.r.o. provides challenging and inspiring English-language education to children of all nationalities living in the Moravian-Silesian Region. We strive to encourage young leaders to attain their full intellectual, creative, moral and physical potential. Our small class sizes form a reflective and engaging atmosphere to help children develop into enthusiastic life-long learners. The foundation of our curricular and instructional practice is based upon our respect for the individual learning styles of students, and an understanding of the needs of the internationally mobile child.
Our Objectives
We aim to implement our philosophy by striving for these objectives:
Curricular Objectives:
To maintain a challenging and balanced, well-articulated, well-resourced, international curriculum.To explore similarities and differences in ways of life, race, culture, history, and religions, and so contribute to mutual understanding, respect for others and self-esteem.
- To help children acquire oral, written, mathematical and scientific skills.
- To introduce environmental and development issues and their effect on the quality of life.
- To provide students with an understanding of each other’s culture and to demonstrate that each society has much to learn from the other.
- To develop understanding of the need for physical and mental balance and personal well-being.
- To develop an awareness of fine art, music, literature and drama, and to broaden the experience of each child by widening their horizons.
- To encourage positive attitudes to learning by making children and teachers aware that learning is a lifetime process and by encouraging students to think.
